A cricket club in Devon has been completely destroyed by fire – in the third attack by vandals and arsonists in recent years.
In August 2010 the clubhouse was burnt to the ground. And earlier this year vandals smashed every pane of glass in the building.
Fire crews from Bideford were called to Westleigh Cricket Club shortly after 3am this morning (Wednesday).
It is believed the blaze was started deliberately.
Officers confirmed the club’s pavilion had been completely destroyed by the fire.
Earlier this year the clubhouse was targeted by vandals who smashed every pane of glass.
In August 2010 Westleigh’s old clubhouse including irreplaceable memorabilia was destroyed in an arson attack.
Fire fighters damped down the scene using hose reel jets and police have been informed.
The village cricket club fell victim to vandals earlier this year, when almost every pane of glass in the pavilion was destroyed.
