Where in the world were Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar?
One night after coming out victorious in the men’s Elimination Chamber match, Roman Reigns was supposed to go face-to-face with his WrestleMania 34 opponent, universal champion Brock Lesnar. Who knows, maybe we could have had another awkward tug-o-war with the top Raw title again like these two (hilariously) gave us three years ago prior to their first ‘Mania main event together. Instead, Lesnar and advocate Paul Heyman were nowhere in sight for the show, while Reigns cut one of the best promos of his career as he ran down the “Beast Incarnate” down for the no-show.
Details on the actual whereabouts of Heyman and Lesnar on Monday night are still cloudy. According to a report from PW Insider, there was a lengthy segment featuring Reigns, Lesnar and Heyman penciled in for Raw on Monday night, which obviously didn’t take place. PW Insider also noted that their sources within WWE mentioned to them there was no sign of the universal champion and his advocate inside the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, on Monday. So, whether the segment was pulled last minute to play up the angle of uncertainty surrounding Lesnar’s future or negotiations for a new contract are falling apart remains to be seen. Whatever the case, Lesnar not being present for Raw on Monday night allowed the build for the likely WrestleMania 34 main event to get off to an intriguing start — which was needed, given this matchup in New Orleans isn’t the most popular among a lot of die-hard fans.
More WWE news, rumors
- Bobby Lashley appears to be just about set for another WWE run. According to Dave Meltzer, Lashley chose to sign with WWE over New Japan Pro-Wrestling a couple of weeks ago Lashley’s initial run with WWE lasted from 2004-08, and he’s most recently performed for Impact Wrestling. He’s also built up a pretty successful mixed martial arts resume, compiling a 15-2 overall record. Now, we all begin to speculate whether Lesnar will put over Lashley should he decide to depart from the company soon.
- Speaking of mixed martial arts, UFC announcer Joe Rogan recently made some disparaging remarks about professional wrestling, even using the “fake” word so many in the business despise. On his Sirius XM Radio show, Mark Henry had a response for Rogan’s comments that included calling Rogan ignorant and disrespectful.
- On Tuesday night’s edition of SmackDown Live, John Cena will turn to the blue brand for help as he continues his quest for a WrestleMania match.
