UPDATE (11/30/17 5 p.m.) — The University of Arkansas says the search for its new athletics director is continuing and no decision has been made on a new hire.
Spokesperson Steve Voorhies tells KATV the university is still in its vetting process to find the replacement for Jeff Long, the former athletics director who was terminated on Nov. 15.
Voorhies said earlier reports that Dr. Derrick Gragg, the vice president and director of athletics for the University of Tulsa, was expected to be named the new athletics director were incorrect.
ORIGINAL (11/30/17 3:27 p.m.) — Dr. Derrick Gragg, the vice president and director of athletics for the University of Tulsa, is expected to be named as the new athletics director for the University of Arkansas, according to KATV’s content partners 103.7 The Buzz and KFSM.
The move would follow the termination of Jeff Long on Nov. 15.
Gragg is currently in his fifth year with the University of Tulsa.
Previously in his career, Gragg spent six years at the University of Arkansas, serving as associate athletics director in 2000, senior associate athletics director in 2003 and deputy athletics director under the legendary Frank Broyles.
According to the University of Tulsa athletics website, Gragg has also worked at the universities of Michigan, Missouri and Vanderbilt.
